Stained Glass

Stained Glass

Stained Glass itself as a medium came to me rather late in life. I was in my 30s, and during a visit to America, I contacted a stained glass studio and paid them a daily rate to observe and learn about the tools and the techniques.

I then had all the materials and tools I would need shipped back to my studio in the village, where I spent the next six months mastering the tools and the techniques.

It wasn’t long after that I started getting my first commissions, and I continue to work to this day creating intricate windows for churches and homes. My works can be found mainly in Lebanon, with others scattered around the world.

Current Projects

The church I’m currently working on is located in a village in the northern part of the country called Kfarzeina.

The church itself is still under heavy construction, but I am, nevertheless, installing the stained Glass!

The main facade is finished and, at the moment, I am working on the domes.

The work consist of twelve big ones, each measuring two by two metres.

Creating Arabic calligraphy of The Beatitudes in leaded glass.

Pictured below are the first two, with the remaining to come.

Ecclesiastical

Working in stained glass I am, of course, frequently called upon to design and create windows of different saints.

My saints are always fully leaded.
I do not paint the features on the my saints: faces, beards and hands, are all made of cut and leaded glass.

These two arches were created for the hall of the Kfar Abida parish church.

Residential

A traditional Lebanese house in the village of Ein Ebel in the south of Lebanon.

A “mandaloon” (Arabic for arches) in a traditional house in Ashqout, Mount Lebanon. This project was particularly challenging due to the intricacy of the design, with over 1000 individual pieces of cut glass for all three arches.

The challenge for this project was to design a series of windows that would not obscure the view to nature.

A collection of various projects for different residences around Lebanon, completed from 2010s to present day.

After mastering the technique, these are pieces I created between the mid 1990s and early 2000s.
